UPDATE ON QUALIFICATIONS - 2023
For Natural Regional Shows:
- Top 3 qualify to the Natural Canada Pro Qualifier for 12 months from the date of their last natural regional competition.
For Open Regional Shows:
- Top 3 qualify to the Open Pro-Qualifiers for 12 months from the date of their last open regional competition.
For Open Pro-Qualifier Events:
- Competitors must maintain a Top 5 placing at an open Canadian Pro Qualifier to keep his or her qualification for 12 months from the date of the open Pro Qualifier. Those not placing Top 5 at one of the open Pro Qualifiers maintain their qualification for 12 months from the date of their last open Regional competition.
- Top 15 from an open Canadian Pro Qualifier qualify for 12 months from the date of said competition to the North Americans, Amateur Olympia US; Amateur Arnolds US and any Worldwide Open Pro Qualifier.
For Natural Pro-Qualifier Events:
- Competitors must maintain a Top 5 placing at the Natural Canada Pro Qualifier to keep his or her qualification for 12 months from the date of the competition to the Natural Pro Qualifiers. Those not placing Top 5 at a Natural Pro Qualifier maintain their qualification for 12 months from the date of their last Natural Regional competition.
- Top 15 from Natural Canada Pro Qualifiers qualify for 12 months from the date of the competition to the Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier or any Natural Pro Qualifier Worldwide.
For the Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier:
- Top 15 from the Natural Canada's qualify for 12 months from the date of the competition to the Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier.
- Top 5 from the Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier and the Natural Canada Pro Qualifier maintain their qualification to return to the Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier or the Natural Canada Pro Qualifier.
NOTE:
- You CANNOT cross over from Open to Natural. You must be qualified in both, to compete in both Natural and Open Pro Qualifiers.
- All first time competitors are eligible to compete in the True Novice category (never competed with the CPA in any category at a bodybuilding or fitness competition). The True Novice category provides no qualifications, just awards and bragging rights).
- All competitors who did not place in the Top 3 in any category in a CPA competition may compete in the Novice category. The Novice category provides no qualifications, just awards and bragging rights. All Novice competitors are eligible to compete in a regional competition - no pre-qualification.
- Competitors may do True Novice, Novice & Open in the same show.
- Competitors can cross over (compete in multiple categories) at the Regional level.

Competitors can cross over (compete in multiple categories) at the Pro Qualifier level (provided you are qualified IN THOSE categories). You cannot compete in a division at a Pro Qualifier that you are not qualified in. For instance, a qualified bodybuilder CANNOT cross over into Classic Physique at a Pro Qualifier level unless qualified. The same applies from an open class to a Masters class.
CANADIANS COMPETING OUT OF COUNTRY IN A PRO QUALIFIER
- Placings achieved at North Americans, Arnold Amateur or Olympia Amateur will NOT qualify you to return to these events or to a CPA Pro Qualifier, except the Natural Ben Weider where Top 5 qualify to return to the Ben Weider or the Natural Canada’s.
- Canadians competing out of country require a current Canadian Physique Alliance membership and have placed in Top 15 at a Canadian Pro Qualifier within 12 month period. Canadian athletes competing out of country require a letter from the President of the CPA – ronhache@unitz.ca.
IFBB PRO CARDS
- Natural Canada's and Canadian Nationals: One Pro card will be handed out in each division to the overall winner in both open and masters. (These competitions will be open to Canadians ONLY.)
- Toronto Pro Qualifier - Open Worldwide: One Pro card will be handed out in each division to the overall winner in both open and masters, with the exception of Wellness, Bikini and Men’s Physique where two IFBB Pro Cards will be awarded. The Masters division is open worldwide but Pro Cards will only be awarded to Canadians.
- Vancouver Pro Qualifier - Open Worldwide: One Pro Card will be handed out to the overall winners in the open class only with the exception of Wellness Open where two Pro Cards will be awarded.
- Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier: One Pro Card will be handed out to the overall winners in the open and masters classes.
- Fitness: Has the 2 piece presentation round and a routine Round.
- As per IFBB Pro League rules, a minimum of 5 competitors in a division is necessary to award an IFBB Pro Card. If a division has less than 5 competitors, the division winner may petition the IFBB Pro League for a Pro Card.
